our bank of 8 track recorders are all the same brand/model-series. they are considered to be among the best, most transparent, and are all aligned immaculately. the tapes they produce won't sound "off" unless your player is "off". they are cleaned, lubed, maintained regularly, and the motors are all adjusted to the same speed.
we record bands using tube-based and discretely wired equipment. this ensures a clear, direct, realistic recording that preserves the 3-dimensional holographic imaging effect. the holographic effect is 1960/70s technology-specific. it cannot exist if the digital realm, or too many complex integrated circuit devices have been used.
